Tennis Match from Hell
Holy crap! Eleven hours and 5 minutes. Eleven hours of playing tennis spread over 3 days. I’ll say it again, holy crap. John
Isner and Nicolas Mahut played one for the ages at Wimbledon. Played over 3 days, the final was Isner, 70-68 in the fifth set. For those who may not know, Wimbledon is the only major where they do not play a tie-breaker. Play on indeed.
Not only did this match blow away the old record, 6 hours and 33 minutes, they blew it away with the 5th set alone! Records were smashed for total number of aces as well, by both players. Just unreal.
We will have to wait and see how things work out for Isner the rest of the tourney, but I doubt that these 2 will ever play in a match like this again. One for the ages.
And yeah, I realize this was a post about tennis. Deal with it. We’ll get back to the World Cup, pre-season football, beer, and munchies soon, I promise. I was just…70-68??? Holy crap.
